The primary responsibility of the Counselor is to provide comprehensive individual foreclosure
intervention counseling to home owners, assisting them to assess the obstacles they are currently facing regarding their delinquency and possible foreclosure on their home by developing a corrective action plan, working with their financial institution, and analyzing the client’s overall financial status to identify the best solution for the client. Additional responsibilities will include to provide once a month fast-track foreclosure prevention workshop English/Spanish, and to participate in presentations. Create and maintain electronic customer files and hard copy files with updated information in compliance with the program and HUD filing guidelines. Duties and Responsibilities • Provide comprehensive individual foreclosure counseling sessions. • Conduct fast-track foreclosure prevention workshops. • Create and maintain hard and electronic files for each costumer, including all the necessary and required forms and documentation. • Provide quality control for all aspects of the service-delivery system, customer-tracking system, program effectiveness, and overall customer satisfaction. • Assist with the nurturing of existing partnerships and outreach to prospective partners in an effort to secure funding and support for the education programs. • Evaluate and access the educational needs of the community and meet those needs with appropriate opportunities. • Complete appropriate statistical and analytical management report to include information regarding counseling service, customer satisfaction, outcomes data, as well as information to deliver invoices to partners providing compensations. • Must to be able to work well with others towards program goals as determinate by the Program Director. Skills / Requirements
• Two to four years experience in Financial Education Counseling and/or knowledge of real
estate law and mortgage loans or other relevant experience. • Understand the structure of the primary and secondary markets, the collection and loss mitigation functions of those entities collecting mortgage payments, financial management and budgeting. Be familiar with state and federal regulations regarding the foreclosure process • Knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and other business software applications. • Ability to successfully complete certification with Neighbor®Works of America Training. • Being available to travel to weekly NWA conference trainings once or twice a year. • Bi-lingual English/Spanish • Effective oral and written communication skills. Personal Qualities • Highly motivated self-starter with strong project management, facilitation and change management skills. • Ability to work effectively in both individual and group settings. • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and also as a productive team member. • Ability to be flexible, adaptive and positive in a constantly changing environment.
