Summary: As Senior Behavioral Health Technician, provides support to members in recovery at the Safety Zone 23 hour stabilization program and is the lead staff for shift Behavioral Health Assistants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Functions as lead staff for shift Behavioral Health Assistants. 2. Provide direct support to participants involved in a specialized program. 3. Assists target populations to secure a variety of social services, including but not limited to, relapse prevention services, prenatal care, food stamps, general assistance and childcare. 4. Transports members to and from appointments as appropriate. 5. Maintains member records in accordance with agency and funding source requirements. 6. Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team. 7. Provides member advocacy as needed to ensure delivery of required services. 8. Provides community outreach and education regarding program services. 9. Communicates with site staff to monitor member progress. 10. Provides crisis intervention and management. 11. Assists site staff in developing aftercare plan with members, prior to reentry into the community. 12. Performs other related activities as required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 1. Demonstrates clinical competency in accordance with standards for the position. 2. Demonstrates competencies in accordance with CODAC standards. 3. Knowledge of community resources. 4. Knowledge of serious mental illness, substance abuse and dynamics of addictive behavior. 5. Knowledge in areas relating to specialized populations, including but not limited to women, and persons living with HIV. 6. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 7. Ability to communicate and interact with clients receiving treatment. 8. Familiarity with various ethnic and cultural groups. 9. Ability to receive Arizona Department of Transportation (DOT) certification to drive agency vehicles. 10. Ability to effectively handle emergency situations and take necessary action. Skills / Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
Associates Degree from an accredited community college plus 2 years relevant experience; OR currently enrolled in a college behavioral health program plus 1 year relevant experience; OR High School diploma or equivalent, plus a combination of behavioral health education and relevant work experience. Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Valid Arizona Driver's license, own transportation and automobile liability insurance required. Must obtain, maintain certification and perform First Aid and CPR.
