Jobing Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Therapist is responsible for providing outpatient therapy services to Pantano members. Works with a team of behavioral health professionals, technicians, and para-professionals to aid in the member’s recovery.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide individual therapy to an established caseload utilizing established best practice models.
• Conduct family therapy as indicated.
• Builds rapport and credibility simultaneously with varying members/age groups. Relates to variety of individuals with warmth, empathy, acceptance and humor.
• Provides effective crisis assessment including the following of program triage protocol, arranging for emergency psychiatric evaluation/hospitalization as indicated by protocol, provides for follow-up, normalizes situation, discusses options and handles situation calmly.
• If no behavioral health problem exists, refers client to an appropriate community resource.
• Performs duties with knowledge and skill in group processes, establishes group commitment to common goals, establishes an environment of mutual respect and understanding.
• Performs duties using knowledge and skill in assessment and diagnosis utilizing DSM-IV criteria.
• Understands human development and family life cycle in children and families and demonstrates application of this knowledge.
• Maintains clinical records in a timely manner according to standards.
• Interacts professionally and clearly and in a timely manner with internal and external customers, other community professionals including staffing meetings, providing consultation or advocacy.
• Participates in in-service training and educational opportunities outside the agency as required and as time and resources permit.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.

Skills / Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education* and Experience:
• Completion of a Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field.
• Arizona Licensure and/or certification preferred.

*Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.

General:
• Must have good verbal and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, visitors, and coworkers.
• Must be organized and able to relate to diverse populations.
• Must be able to participate as a team member, utilize supervision and able to accept peer support in the treatment planning process.
• Must have the ability to formulate, conceptualize, and elicit problem statements from the potential client.
• Must be computer literate and have ability to learn software used in program activities and record keeping.
• Must have excellent writing and record-keeping skills.
• Must be able to prioritize and multi-task.
• Must be extremely well organized, structured, and capable of independent functioning.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Must be physically capable and psychologically prepared to administer approved therapeutic crisis intervention procedures of children as needed.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain a Class I Fingerprint Card.
