GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Courtesy Case Specialist conducts home studies of families within a defined geographic area. Position is responsible for evaluating the ability of a family to care for a specific relative child. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conducts home studies, trains families, and facilitates licensing or certification according to applicable laws and regulations. • Maintains timely and accurate client records in compliance with AzCA and governmental requirements, including progress notes, home studies, etc. • Assists families in securing necessary resources to assist with the children placed in their care. • Actively participates in a retention plan for host parents, such as timely in-home visits, quarterly reports and renewal studies. • If necessary, acts as advocate for host parents in situations such as, but not limited to, agency review boards, court hearings and investigations. • Performs other duties as assigned which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrates the knowledge and application of human development and family life cycle in children and families. Demonstrates the knowledge and application of the cultural situations involved in the treatment of the child and family. Demonstrates knowledge in the areas of engaging the family and child. Knowledge of current licensing laws and regulations. Ability to teach and communicate pertinent parenting skills and behaviors. Must be organized and able to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Must be organized with the ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and to work independently with minimum supervision. Must have ability to maintain confidentiality, and exhibit mature judgment and emotional stability. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement). Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field of study from an accredited college or university. Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s automobile policy. Must be computer literate with knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Must be able to provide own transportation to and from clients’ homes and/or other relevant organizations/agencies. May be required to transport clients. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to provide DPS fingerprint clearance. Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position. Mental Requirements • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language. • Ability to interact well with various levels of staff, clients, and with guests of AzCA. • Ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex information. Physical Requirements • Office environment with frequent sitting, standing, writing and computer usage. • Must be able to climb stairs, with frequent standing and moving throughout facility or in the alternative, perform these physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations. • Frequent to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.). • Moderate reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling or crouching. • Frequent and/or prolonged travel.
