Job Summary:
Provides education throughout Southern Arizona to raise public awareness about the scope and dynamics of domestic abuse and the services available to victims. Provides training to Emerge! staff, volunteers and interns as well as to partner organizations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Provide domestic abuse education and information through presentations at schools, social service agencies, faith-based organizations, law enforcement, public safety, and military facilities, neighborhood associations, hospitals and doctor’s offices, businesses, etc. across all of Southern Arizona including rural areas • Represent agency at tabling events, workshops, demonstrations, public awareness fairs and meetings • Provide training to Emerge! staff, volunteers and interns • Network with community agencies, assessing available services appropriate to participant needs and providing domestic abuse training to their staff • Manage training schedule of external community training opportunities and distribute the information to staff and volunteers • Develop, train and coordinate a Speakers Bureau of staff and volunteers, in collaboration with the Education & Evaluation Manager • Help to develop and implement community awareness campaigns for Volunteer Month and Domestic Violence Month • Develop training curriculum, marketing materials and social networking strategies to reach new audiences, in collaboration with the Education & Evaluation Manager • Organize community awareness events in collaboration with partner organizations • Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports and statistics • Attend monthly in-service training • Other related duties as required Skills / Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• BA, BS in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education, or related field • Must be at least 21 years of age • Must have valid Arizona driver license, clean driving record, and personal liability automobile insurance • At least two years experience in community outreach, training/presentations and curriculum development • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred • Excellent written and oral communication abilities • Experienced public speaker with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills • Experience leading groups and facilitating productive dialogue among diverse perspectives • Competency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher • Competency with online development and social marketing tools including WordPress, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter • Competency using multimedia equipment including projectors, DVD players, etc. • Understanding of databases such as Access as a record-keeping and reporting tool • Work effectively as a team member • Experience working with people of varied cultures, identities, and life experiences • Ability to work well independently and be self-motivated OTHER SKILLS/CHARACTERSISTICS: • Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence issues, crisis intervention and case management and non-violent parenting methods • Competency in using peer-reviewed research to develop presentations • Knowledge of group facilitation and dynamics • Familiarity with local resources and referrals • Ability to liaison and network with local agencies • Ability to organize information on community resources • Capable of working well under pressure and/or deadlines • Effective time management skills Important Notes
